Chuck Hot 10: Buffalo is No. 1 as Week 8 leaves the NFL without an unbeaten
The first weekly Chuck Hot 10 ranks the NFL on record, scoring margin and how teams have played over the past month. Denver and Pittsburgh ride four-game win streaks into the top three, and Kansas City barely hangs on at No. 10.

The Buffalo Bills open the first Chuck Hot 10 at No. 1 after beating the Baltimore Ravens 36-10 on Sunday for their third straight win. Week 8 also took away the league's last perfect record when Detroit beat Minnesota 19-15, so five teams now sit at 6-1 or 6-2.
This is the debut edition, so there is no up-or-down column yet. Starting next Monday, every team will show how far it moved. Records are through Sunday, with the Bears still to play at Seattle on Monday night.
The Chuck Hot 10
- Buffalo Bills (6-1). Josh Allen accounted for three touchdowns against Baltimore, and the only loss is 29-26 to New England in Week 4. Buffalo has scored 233 points, the most in the league. (Recap)
- Denver Broncos (6-2). Four straight wins, the last a 28-24 win over Kansas City that ended with Malcolm Roach sacking Patrick Mahomes on the final play. The Broncos now lead the AFC West. (Recap)
- Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2). Also four in a row. Jaylen Warren ran for 143 yards in a 27-6 win over Cleveland, and the defense has allowed 16 points in its last two games. (Recap)
- San Francisco 49ers (6-1). The 49ers beat Denver 24-14 in Week 4 and own a +58 point differential, but their last game was a 29-20 loss at Atlanta before a bye. They host the Raiders on Sunday.
- Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2). Nobody has a better point differential than Jacksonville's +85. Trevor Lawrence threw three touchdowns in Sunday's 42-7 rout of the Colts. They play at Baltimore on Thursday night.
- Detroit Lions (5-2). Three straight wins, including Sunday's 19-15 win that handed Minnesota its first loss when Jared Goff found Jameson Williams late. (Recap)
- Minnesota Vikings (6-1). Still tied for the best record, and the defense has allowed 93 points, the fewest in the league. The offense has 140 points in seven games, which is why the Vikings sit this low.
- Cincinnati Bengals (5-2). Joe Burrow threw five touchdown passes and ran in the overtime winner in a 43-36 win over Tennessee, the Bengals' third straight. Giving up 36 to a 1-7 team keeps them out of the top five.
- Chicago Bears (5-2). Back-to-back wins after a 31-7 loss at Green Bay, the latest 30-24 over New England. Monday night at Seattle is their chance to move up.
- Kansas City Chiefs (5-2). Two straight losses, 20-3 at Seattle and 28-24 at Denver. The Chiefs host the Jets on Sunday.
Just missed: New England (5-3), Green Bay (5-3) and Seattle (4-3, +43).
