  • The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions. Jacob Misiorowski shut out the Tampa Bay Rays into the sixth inning on Wednesday night, and the Brewers won Game 5 4-1 at Tropicana Field to take the Series four games to one.

It is the first World Series title for the franchise. A night earlier, Tampa Bay had kept Milwaukee from clinching with a 12th-inning walk-off, ESPN noted before the game.

  • Misiorowski, who started on four days' rest, allowed two hits and a walk over 5 2/3 innings and threw 86 pitches, the ESPN box score shows. He left to a standing ovation, and MLB showed Brewers fans 1,293 miles away at American Family Field on their feet for him too.

  • Cooper Pratt did the damage again. The rookie shortstop drove in the first run with a single to center in the second inning, scoring Brice Turang, and was thrown out trying to take second on the play. He reached again in the fifth and scored on David Hamilton's single to right. MLB said Pratt's hit streak reached six straight at-bats, the most by a rookie in a World Series.

Milwaukee put it away in the sixth. William Contreras doubled to left to score Christian Yelich, and Pratt's sacrifice fly to right brought in Contreras for a 4-0 lead. Pratt finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Turang had two hits.

The Rays started Drew Rasmussen on three days' rest after he threw 89 pitches in Game 2, according to ESPN. He held Milwaukee to one run over four innings with four strikeouts, but the bullpen gave up three runs over the next two innings.

  • Milwaukee's bullpen did not give Tampa Bay much. JoJo Romero and Abner Uribe each got two outs, and Trevor Megill pitched the last two innings. The Rays scored their only run in the ninth, when Chandler Simpson doubled to right to bring in Liam Hicks. Tampa Bay finished with four hits. Junior Caminero, who hurt his left foot in Game 4, batted third and went 1 for 4.

First baseman Jake Bauers helped in the field with a diving play that MLB clipped, and the Brewers survived two errors.

  • The crowd at Tropicana Field was 40,489. Tampa Bay, which won Game 4 to avoid a sweep, did not score in Game 5 until the ninth inning.
