  • Seattle Seahawks left tackle Charles Cross has a high ankle sprain and is expected to miss time, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Monday after an MRI. The hope is that Cross returns in one to two weeks, depending on how his rehab goes.

  • Cross limped off in the fourth quarter of Sunday night's 20-3 win over the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs and didn't return. Josh Jones finished the game at left tackle and is now in line to start Seattle's Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, ESPN reported.

It wasn't the only injury news out of Seattle. Wide receiver Rashid Shaheed hurt his knee Sunday and sat out the second half. Coach Mike Macdonald said on his Seattle Sports 710-AM radio show Monday that "the early returns are positive."

  • There was some good news on the backfield, too. Macdonald said the team will open the 21-day practice window this week for rookie running back Jadarian Price, the first-round pick who has spent the last four games on injured reserve with a chest injury. Zach Charbonnet, coming back from February ACL surgery, was inactive Sunday after a full week of practice. "We're sticking to our plan where he's still going to practice in a full capacity and then we'll evaluate as the week goes on and go from there," Macdonald said.

A one-to-two-week timeline would put Cross on track to miss the Bears game and possibly one more. High ankle sprains can linger, and Seattle has a Monday night game coming, which gives him a little extra recovery time.

What to watch: Seattle's practice reports this week for Cross, Shaheed, Price and Charbonnet. If Price practices and Charbonnet finally plays, the Seahawks could have their planned backfield together for the first time against Chicago.
