  • J.J. McCarthy made his first start of the season after coach John Harbaugh benched Winston, and went 20 of 28 for 252 yards with no turnovers. The AP pointed out he was playing in the stadium where he won a national title with Michigan in January 2024. Malik Nabers caught seven passes for 111 yards, including a 42-yarder that set up Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Winston still found the end zone, on a 1-yard plunge in the second quarter for a 14-6 lead.

  • Houston answered both of those. Ka'imi Fairbairn made field goals from 58 and 57 yards. With about 30 seconds left in the half, C.J. Stroud found Marvin Harrison Jr. for a 6-yard touchdown in Harrison's second game since his trade from Arizona, and Cade Stover caught the two-point conversion to tie it at 14.

After Skattebo's touchdown, the Texans punted on their first three possessions of the second half. Stroud then led a late drive and hit Xavier Hutchinson for a 3-yard touchdown with 52 seconds left to tie it at 21. The Giants didn't get into field goal range before regulation ended. Dominic Zvada had already missed from 56 and 44 yards, both wide right.

  • Stroud finished 17 of 28 for 153 yards and two touchdowns, a season low in yards per the AP. Woody Marks ran for 66 yards. Tank Dell caught one pass for 43 yards and returned a punt 14 yards in his first game back after almost two years recovering from a knee injury. Houston was penalized 10 times for 80 yards, and the Giants outgained the Texans 420 to 237.

Micah McFadden made 10 tackles for New York. Texans receiver Jaylin Noel left in the fourth quarter with a toe injury.

The Giants are 4-2-1 and the Texans are 2-5. Both teams have a bye next week. The Giants visit Philadelphia on Nov. 8, and Houston visits the Chargers the same day.
