  • Myles Garrett is closing in on his first game since arthroscopic knee surgery. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Friday that the Rams star is on track to be activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game at the Washington Commanders, with all indications pointing toward him playing.

  • Coach Sean McVay later confirmed the plan. Rapoport wrote that McVay expects Garrett to go, as does tight end Terrance Ferguson, who is also working back from injured reserve. The NFL.com Friday injury roundup repeated that McVay expects Garrett to play barring a setback.

  • How he got here

Garrett played Week 1 against the 49ers in Australia, then went on injured reserve after knee surgery and has missed the last seven games. CBS Sports notes he was limited in practice this week after returning to the field. Over the previous five seasons he had missed only two of 85 games.

  • The Rams acquired Garrett from Cleveland in June in a trade that sent Jared Verse and multiple draft picks the other way, then reworked his contract. Los Angeles is 4-4 and ranks near the bottom of the league in sack rate without him. Sunday would be his first chance to line up with Aaron Donald, who came out of retirement after the trade.
