Minnesota reclaimed the Little Brown Jug, Syracuse survived overtime at UConn and Iowa State outlasted West Virginia as Saturday's early college football window mixed defensive wins with two high-scoring finishes.
The Gophers beat Michigan 20-14 behind a second-half defense that repeatedly put Drake Lindsey and the offense in favorable positions. Lindsey's touchdown pass to Darius Taylor early in the fourth quarter supplied the winning margin. Minnesota won the rivalry game for the first time since 2014 and brought the trophy home in front of its own crowd for the first time since 1977.
Michigan had gone ahead on Nathaniel Staehling's 79-yard interception return before halftime. FOX's clip shows the play that gave the Wolverines a 14-7 lead; Minnesota's comeback came afterward. Bryce Underwood finished with 101 passing yards and two interceptions, and Michigan managed only 82 yards on 24 second-half plays.
