Georgia’s passing game built the lead, and its defense made the second half decisive. No. 2 Georgia beat Vanderbilt 38–14 Saturday at Sanford Stadium, improving to 5–0 overall and 3–0 in the SEC behind three Gunner Stockton touchdown passes. Vanderbilt fell to 3–2 and 0–2 in conference play.
Stockton completed 25 of 32 passes for 295 yards without an interception. Georgia finished with 471 total yards and converted seven of its 10 third downs, sustaining enough possessions to keep Vanderbilt from turning an encouraging first half into a fourth-quarter contest.
The Commodores trailed only 21–14 at halftime. Blaze Berlowitz’s 60-yard touchdown pass to Junior Sherrill tied the game near the end of the first quarter, and Sedrick Alexander’s two-yard touchdown run late in the second kept Vanderbilt within one score.

That changed sharply after halftime. Vanderbilt finished with 293 yards, while Georgia kept the Commodores off the scoreboard throughout the final two quarters. The Bulldogs’ official recap credited the defense with allowing just 61 second-half yards, a clear contrast with the space Vanderbilt found early.
Georgia’s opening possession of the third quarter provided the separation. On third-and-four, Lawson Luckie caught a deflected pass and turned it into a 43-yard gain. Stockton later found Elyiss Williams for a one-yard touchdown with 8:21 remaining, pushing the advantage to 28–14.

SEC: Vanderbilt–Georgia game highlights
Read source ↗ Vanderbilt’s next possession reached Georgia territory, but a fourth-and-two pass at the Bulldogs’ 40 was ruled incomplete after review. Georgia followed with Peyton Woodring’s 39-yard field goal, then Ellis Robinson IV intercepted Berlowitz on the next Commodores possession. Stockton finished a subsequent 12-play drive with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Dwight Phillips Jr., extending the score to its final margin.
Phillips led Georgia with five catches for 75 yards and added 27 rushing yards. Landon Roldan caught two passes for 57 yards, including the opening two-yard touchdown and a 55-yard reception that set up Chauncey Bowens’ short scoring run. Jaden Reddell also scored on a one-yard rush.
Georgia’s final rushing total of 176 yards included Bo Walker’s late 59-yard run. The Bulldogs had managed only 20 rushing yards in the first half, making Stockton’s accuracy especially valuable while the game remained close. Berlowitz finished with 190 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception; Sherrill caught seven passes for 107 yards.
Georgia now heads to Tuscaloosa on October 10 to face Alabama, which also remained unbeaten Saturday. The Bulldogs arrive with a passing attack that carried this win and a defense that answered a difficult opening half.
