Kirk Cousins will start for the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday against the New York Jets, coach Klint Kubiak said Monday, a day after he said he would evaluate every position, quarterback included, following a fourth straight loss.
"There's no controversy," Kubiak said about sitting the 38-year-old for No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza, according to ESPN.
On Sunday, after the 35-21 loss to the Los Angeles Rams dropped Las Vegas to 3-4, Kubiak wouldn't rule out a change. By Monday he was firmly behind Cousins.

"[Cousins is] playing at a very high level, and he's got to continue to do that for us to win," Kubiak said. "We got to keep helping all the areas around him."
Cousins has not been the problem during the skid. He leads the NFL with 16 touchdown passes and ranks third with 1,877 passing yards. Against the Rams he threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns after a shaky first half, while Los Angeles blitzed him on 29.2 percent of his dropbacks, sacked him twice and pressured him 19 times, according to ESPN.
Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy winner, has played once, completing 6 of 8 passes for 48 yards late in a Week 5 loss. Kubiak said the team has a plan for him but no date for his first start.
"Fernando is going to play at some point," Kubiak said. "It's not going to be this week."
The Raiders play at MetLife Stadium at 1 p.m. ET Sunday on FOX.
