Quentin Grimes scored 23 points on Wednesday night, and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the LA Clippers 103-87 without Luka Doncic, their second win over their neighbors in a week.
Doncic, who leads the NBA at 36 points a game, sat out with back tightness on the second night of the Lakers' first back-to-back. Starting forward Ziaire Williams also missed the game with a sore left foot. Coach JJ Redick said both moves were precautionary, according to the Associated Press.
Six Lakers scored in double figures. Grimes went 7 of 15 and made 9 of 11 free throws, with five assists and four steals. Collin Sexton scored a season-high 21 off the bench, Austin Reaves had 16 points and eight turnovers, Matisse Thybulle scored 15 on 5-of-6 shooting, and Sandro Mamukelashvili and Walker Kessler added 13 and 11. Sexton and Thybulle made four 3-pointers each.
