Four games remained live at the first East Coast close of Saturday's college football slate. By the West Coast check, all four were final, and each had produced a different kind of finish: Stanford erased a 10-point halftime deficit, Minnesota held off Washington, Air Force survived two overtimes at Nevada, and Fresno State answered Rice's late charge with one decisive run. The individual recaps below preserve the scoring sequence and player lines behind each result.
Two conference games turn late
Stanford beat Georgia Tech 34-27 after Davis Warren threw three touchdowns in the second half. The Cardinal trailed 20-10 at halftime, then scored 24 unanswered points before the Yellow Jackets' fourth-quarter reply. Warren's 396 passing yards gave Stanford the comeback engine it lacked on the ground, where it gained 86 yards. The win also gave the Cardinal its first ACC victory of the season. Georgia Tech finished with 431 yards but lost two turnovers and accumulated 12 penalties for 106 yards, according to the final box score.
Minnesota won 27-24 at Washington in its Big Ten opener. Drake Lindsey threw three first-half touchdowns to three receivers, building a 21-10 halftime advantage. Washington twice pulled within one score in the fourth quarter, the second time on Demond Williams Jr.'s 13-yard run with 1:53 left. Minnesota had enough of a cushion to withstand it. The Gophers' defense sacked Williams seven times and held the Huskies to one third-down conversion in 10 attempts. That disruption matters more than the narrow final score alone suggests.

Extra time in Reno, one quick answer in Fresno
Air Force outlasted Nevada 36-33 in double overtime after the Wolf Pack had erased a 27-17 fourth-quarter deficit. Herschel Turner's 57-yard run tied it with 1:49 left in regulation. The teams exchanged first-overtime field goals, and Nevada made another in the second period. Rocco Conti's seven-yard run ended the game on Air Force's ensuing possession. The Falcons' official account details their 363 rushing yards and the five-play winning drive.
Fresno State beat Rice 38-24 despite trailing 17-14 at halftime. Jayden Mandal threw three touchdowns as the Bulldogs took command after the break. Rice quarterback Jacurri Brown's 50-yard run cut the deficit to seven in the fourth quarter, but Rayshon Luke went 52 yards for a touchdown three plays later. Luke finished with 167 rushing yards on 11 carries. Rice gained 463 total yards, four more than Fresno State, yet turned the ball over twice while the Bulldogs had none. The scoring record shows how quickly the hosts erased Rice's last comeback threat.
The four outcomes illustrate why this group needed more than a scoreboard line. Stanford and Minnesota won conference openers through passing and defensive pressure, respectively. Air Force's option attack had to deliver again after a late lead vanished, while Fresno State's explosive runner ended a game in which the Owls produced plenty of offense.
