Notre Dame and Villanova got the men's and women's seasons started in Rome on Sunday. Monday is when everyone else starts, and several ranked teams skipped the usual tune-up opener and went straight to a real game. Here are the six to watch, ranked by how much they should tell us. Times and TV are from ESPN's schedule.
1. No. 1 Florida vs. No. 14 Miami, 6 p.m., ESPN2 (Tampa). The preseason No. 1 plays a top-15 team on night one at Benchmark International Arena. Florida went 27-8 last season and Miami went 26-9, and the Gators open as 4.5-point favorites.
2. No. 5 Arizona vs. No. 22 UCLA, 10 p.m., TNT (Las Vegas). Arizona went 36-3 last season and averaged 86.2 points per game. This is the late game of the Hall of Fame Series doubleheader at T-Mobile Arena, and the Wildcats are 4.5-point favorites.

4. No. 25 BYU vs. Ohio State, 9 p.m., FS1 (Salt Lake City). BYU hosts the Buckeyes at the Delta Center, home of the Utah Jazz. BYU went 23-12 last season and Ohio State went 21-13.
5. No. 1 South Carolina vs. No. 20 Maryland, noon, ESPN (Paris). The women's game of the day is in France. South Carolina and Maryland play at Adidas Arena, with the Gamecocks favored by 14.5.
6. No. 12 North Carolina vs. No. 21 Oklahoma, 2:30 p.m., ESPN2 (Paris). The second half of the Paris doubleheader is the closer matchup on paper, with UNC a 3.5-point favorite.
Most of the rest of the top 25 opens at home against smaller programs, including No. 2 Duke vs. Army (6:30 p.m., ESPNU), No. 3 Illinois vs. Fairleigh Dickinson (8 p.m., BTN) and No. 4 UConn vs. Gardner-Webb (9 p.m., Peacock) on the men's side. The UConn women, ranked No. 2, host Cornell at 5 p.m. on Peacock.
What's next: Florida-Miami and Arizona-UCLA are the first results next week's polls will react to, and the loser of each will likely slide.
