  • Brandin Podziemski will miss Golden State's season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday because of bilateral low back soreness, leaving the Warriors without the only player who appeared in all 82 games last season.

The NBA's October 21 injury report, issued at 2:15 a.m. Eastern, lists Podziemski as out for the 10 p.m. Eastern game in Los Angeles. Stephen Curry is probable with right ankle soreness, while center Charles Bassey is questionable with right patellar tendinopathy.

NBC Sports Bay Area reported Tuesday that Podziemski had missed Golden State's past three practices. Anthony Slater separately reported his absence from the opener Tuesday evening, along with Curry's probable designation.

  • The injury interrupts a run of availability that lasted the full 2025-26 regular season. Podziemski appeared in all 82 games, the only Warrior to do so, according to NBC Sports Bay Area. He averaged 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Golden State is also without Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody. The official report lists Butler out after right ACL repair and Moody out after left patellar tendon repair. Kristaps Porzingis is out and listed as not with the team.

NBC Sports Bay Area identified De'Anthony Melton as a possible replacement in the starting group and Brandon Williams as another option after his preseason play.
