Brandin Podziemski and the Golden State Warriors have agreed to a five-year, $110 million rookie-scale contract extension, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Saturday, citing agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball. The agreement includes a mutual option for the fifth season and a trade kicker.
The San Francisco Chronicle separately confirmed the agreement through league sources. The deal gives Golden State a longer commitment from the 23-year-old guard before the October 19 extension deadline, while keeping the first season's salary close to the cap charge the team would otherwise have carried for him.
The Chronicle reported that Podziemski will make $18.9 million in 2027-28, when the extension begins. Without a new agreement, his pending restricted free agency would have left a $17 million cap hold on Golden State's books, the newspaper reported. The roughly $1.9 million difference helps explain how the Warriors could secure him while retaining room to consider other moves next summer.

Those figures describe one piece of the salary picture. They do not establish exactly how much space Golden State will ultimately have, which also depends on other contracts and roster decisions. Charania reported that the mutual option covers the 2031-32 season.
Podziemski's production has grown through his first three NBA seasons. NBA.com reported that he averaged a career-high 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists while shooting 45.5% in 2025-26. He played all 82 regular-season games, giving the Warriors a reliable source of minutes across a full schedule.
Golden State selected the Santa Clara guard with the 19th pick in the 2023 draft. He became the first player drafted by Mike Dunleavy Jr. after Dunleavy took over as general manager, SFGATE noted in its account of the agreement. The extension follows another scoring increase from Podziemski, whose role has expanded since his rookie season.
The Warriors have also extended Stephen Curry and retained several veteran players this offseason, according to NBA.com's reporting. Podziemski's deal adds a commitment to a younger guard alongside that established group.
The contract terms remain attributed to the reporting and sources behind Saturday's announcement. The fifth season's mutual option gives both sides a decision at the end of that term; Saturday's reporting also identifies a trade kicker as part of the agreement.
