  • Luke Drzewiecki kicked a 46-yard field goal as time expired, and Minnesota beat No. 15 Iowa 13-10 on Saturday at Huntington Bank Stadium to take back the Floyd of Rosedale trophy. According to the Associated Press, it was Minnesota's first Floyd win since 2023 and its second in 12 years.

  • Iowa had just tied it. Hank Brown led a four-play, 98-yard drive and finished it with a 37-yard touchdown pass to Reece Vander Zee with 3:46 to play. Minnesota got the ball back, and on third down from its own 33 with 39 seconds left, Drake Lindsey found Jalen Smith for 39 yards. That put Drzewiecki in range.

  • Points were hard to find all day. Drzewiecki made a 31-yard field goal in the first quarter, Caden Buhr answered with a 32-yarder for Iowa, and the only touchdown before the fourth quarter came on Darius Taylor's 1-yard run in the third. The AP said an offsides penalty on Iowa wiped out a fourth-down stop one play before that score.

  • Minnesota finished with a season-low 209 yards and went 2 for 14 on third down. Lindsey completed 14 of 26 passes for 137 yards with an interception. Javon Tracy caught seven passes for 45 yards and returned two punts for 43.

The Gophers won it on defense. Iowa threw three interceptions, two by Brown and one by Jeremy Hecklinski, with Joey Gerlach, TJ Bush Jr. and Matt Kingsbury picking them off, and lost a fumble in the fourth quarter. Linebacker Zack Harden had 12 tackles and a sack. Iowa came in averaging 194 rushing yards a game, per the AP, and ran for 90.

Iowa's quarterback situation shifted midgame. Hecklinski started for a second straight week and went 9 of 16 for 62 yards before Brown replaced him in the second quarter. Brown had started the first five games before a shoulder sprain against Ohio State and finished 11 of 21 for 136 yards. Running back Kamari Moulton, the Big Ten's leading rusher coming in, had 22 yards before leaving with an injury the school did not disclose. Vander Zee caught four passes for 69 yards.

  • The AP noted Minnesota now holds Floyd of Rosedale, the Little Brown Jug and Paul Bunyan's Axe at the same time for the first time since 1978.

Both teams are 5-2 and 2-2 in the Big Ten. Minnesota visits No. 6 Indiana on Oct. 31, and Iowa hosts Wisconsin.
