  • Rookie Trevon Brazile, playing his first home game, scored seven of his 17 points in overtime. His corner 3-pointer with 1:25 left gave Denver a 133-129 lead. Brazile also had nine rebounds and two blocks. Christian Braun added 15 points and eight rebounds, and DeMar DeRozan scored 12 off the bench. Denver outscored New Orleans 15-9 in overtime and went 30 for 39 at the free-throw line.

The Nuggets were short-handed. Cam Johnson (ankle) and Alpha Diallo (sprained wrist) sat out, and Julian Strawther and Spencer Jones remained out, the AP said.

  • After the game, Jokic had a message for the fans who booed. "We got booed at our first home game, and I think those fans who booed us, they don't need to come anymore," he told reporters, according to ESPN. "If you guys follow us, you know that we never quit and we've come back from much worse situations."

Trey Murphy III led New Orleans with 26 points. Dejounte Murray had 22, and Derik Queen and Zion Williamson scored 17 each. The Pelicans scored 70 points in the paint and are 0-3 under first-year coach Jamahl Mosley.
