The Eagles signed Kenny Moore II from the practice squad to the active roster Tuesday, six days after bringing the veteran defensive back into the organization. The move adds a former Pro Bowler to the 53-man group as Philadelphia prepares to face the Rams.
Moore spent nine seasons with Indianapolis, where he primarily played slot cornerback. He also told reporters last week that he had practiced at safety and was comfortable there. That versatility is relevant to an Eagles defense still working through its safety combinations, rather than confirmation that Moore will start at a particular spot.
NBC Sports Philadelphia's Reuben Frank reported that Vic Fangio mixed Michael Carter into Marcus Epps' safety work during Monday night's loss to Chicago. Cooper DeJean has been playing safety in base packages before moving into the slot against three-receiver formations. Frank also reported that Fangio had ruled out making DeJean a full-time safety.

The Eagles had an open roster spot and did not need a corresponding cut to add Moore, according to Frank. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported that other teams had shown interest and that Moore is expected to be active Sunday. Philadelphia's completed transaction confirms the roster promotion; his game-day role remains to be established.
Moore, 31, has played 132 regular-season games and started 111, according to the team's announcement. His Indianapolis career included 21 interceptions and a Pro Bowl selection in 2021. He had spent the offseason and preseason without a team before joining Philadelphia's practice squad.
For roster planning, the change moves Moore from a practice-squad option to an active-roster defender. It does not by itself settle the Eagles' safety rotation or remove DeJean from his established slot work. Those decisions will become clearer through the week's preparation for Los Angeles.
