Drake Maye threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, and the New England Patriots came back from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat the Miami Dolphins 24-19 on Sunday in Miami Gardens. It was Maye's fifth straight game with at least three total touchdowns, according to the AP recap on ESPN.
New England played without receiver A.J. Brown (knee and ankle), receiver Mack Hollins (calf) and running back TreVeyon Henderson (illness). Maye still completed 16 of 20 passes for 199 yards.
Miami controlled the first half. Malik Willis led an 11-play, 70-yard drive at the end of the second quarter, and Malik Washington caught a 1-yard touchdown with 8 seconds left for a 13-3 lead. Washington had left the drive briefly after a hit by Christian Elliss that drew an unnecessary roughness flag.

The second half belonged to New England. Maye threw deep to Kyle Williams for a 43-yard score that was first ruled incomplete, and Mike Vrabel's challenge turned it into a touchdown when replays showed Williams crossed the goal line before the ball came loose. Maye then faked a pitch to Rhamondre Stevenson and ran in from 2 yards with 59 seconds left in the third. Early in the fourth, DeMario Douglas turned a short catch into a 48-yard touchdown.
Willis pulled Miami within 24-19 on a 35-yard touchdown to rookie Kevin Coleman Jr. with 2:04 left, but the two-point try failed. Stevenson recovered Bradley Pinion's onside kick, and New England ran out the clock.
Stevenson finished with 82 yards on 19 carries. Douglas caught three passes for 76 yards. Kevin Byard had his first interception as a Patriot. Willis, a week after leading Miami to its first win, went 21 of 32 for 211 yards with two touchdowns and an interception and was sacked five times. Ollie Gordon II ran for 69 yards but drew an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the third quarter, and coach Jeff Hafley sat him for a play. Zane Gonzalez made kicks from 31 and 52 yards and missed from 43.
The Patriots are 5-3. The Dolphins are 1-6.
Injuries: Patriots tight end Hunter Henry (foot) left in the second quarter, and linebacker Gabe Jacas (knee) left in the third. Neither returned.
What's next: New England hosts Green Bay next Sunday. Miami hosts Detroit.
