Cleveland took a tense 3-2 win over Boston on Tuesday at Fenway Park, scoring the deciding run in the ninth inning after Mickey Gasper's pinch-hit homer had pulled the Red Sox even. The Guardians improved to 12 hits and kept the game moving with pressure on Boston's bullpen.
David Fry opened Cleveland's scoring in the first when his ground-ball single deflected off Payton Tolle and brought Angel Martínez home. Fry scored again in the second after Brayan Rocchio grounded into a double play, giving the Guardians a 2-0 lead. Martínez finished 3-for-4 with a run, while Chase DeLauter went 2-for-4 and scored the winning run.
Boston answered in the third. Andruw Monasterio's groundout scored Adley Rutschman, who had three of the Red Sox's eight hits. Gasper then came off the bench in the eighth and hit Hunter Gaddis' first pitch over the right-field wall for his 10th home run, tying the game at 2.

Cleveland's final rally began with DeLauter's single and continued through two walks. Nathaniel Lowe, who entered as a pinch hitter, lifted a sacrifice fly to left against Erik Miller, bringing DeLauter home. Cade Smith closed the game for Cleveland with a scoreless ninth and earned his save after Hunter Gaddis recorded the win.
Tolle worked 5 2/3 innings for Boston, allowing two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Cleveland starter Parker Messick held Boston to one run over five innings, and the Guardians' bullpen allowed only one run across the final four innings. Boston's offense produced eight hits but went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, leaving the Red Sox one swing short after Gasper's brief equalizer.
The result gives Cleveland a narrow road win in a game decided by two late answers: Gasper's home run erased the first deficit, and Lowe's fly ball restored it before Boston could bat again.
