Patriots elevate Lan Larison and Mitch Wishnowsky for Seattle opener

New England adds a running back and a veteran punter from its practice squad before kickoff.

The Patriots elevated running back Lan Larison and punter Mitch Wishnowsky from the practice squad on Wednesday, adding two players to the active roster before their season opener in Seattle. The team announced the moves at 4 p.m. Eastern.
Larison joined New England as an undrafted rookie from UC Davis in May 2025 and spent his first season on injured reserve. The Patriots released him at this year’s roster deadline, then brought him back to the practice squad on Sept. 1. Wednesday’s elevation gives him a place on the active roster; the announcement does not establish how much he will play.
Wishnowsky joined New England’s practice squad on Aug. 31 after Buffalo released him. He brings seven NFL seasons of experience, including six with San Francisco and last season with the Bills. The move adds an experienced punter for the opener.
New England visits Seattle at 8:20 p.m. Eastern. The game has not started, and the elevations alone do not settle either player’s game-day workload.
