  • Kenneth Walker III scored twice in 19 seconds of game time Sunday, turning a fourth-quarter deficit into the lead Kansas City needed to beat the Raiders 30–27 at Allegiant Stadium. The Chiefs improved to 4–0, while Las Vegas took its first loss after opening the season with three wins.

Walker finished with 177 rushing yards on 22 carries. His afternoon included the 76-yard run that broke open a tight game, then two late touchdown runs separated by a kickoff fumble. Patrick Mahomes threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns, both to Tyquan Thornton.

Kansas City trailed 13–10 through three quarters. Walker's long run from the Chiefs' 16 put the ball at the Las Vegas 8 on the final play of the third. After an incompletion, Mahomes found Thornton for an 8-yard touchdown with 14:50 remaining. Thornton had already scored from 2 yards in the first quarter.

  • Matt Gay answered with field goals from 44 and 48 yards, the second restoring a 19–17 Raiders lead with 4:53 left. The Chiefs then faced third-and-5 when Mahomes hit Thornton for 55 yards. A Las Vegas unnecessary-roughness penalty moved the ball to the 2, where Walker scored at 3:21. Kansas City's two-point attempt failed, leaving the lead at four.

  • The next kickoff changed the finish. Jeffrey Bassa forced Dareke Young to fumble, and Jack Cochrane recovered at the Las Vegas 22.

  • Walker scored from there on Kansas City's next snap, with 3:02 remaining. Harrison Butker's extra point made it 30–19.

  • Las Vegas still produced a final chance. Kirk Cousins threw a 20-yard touchdown to Brock Bowers with 1:46 left and completed the two-point pass to Cody White. After Kansas City recovered the onside kick but failed to earn a first down, Matt Araiza's punt pinned the Raiders at their 1. Cousins moved them near midfield before Xavier Nwankpa intercepted his final pass with 10 seconds left.

Cousins finished 31-of-52 for 365 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Bowers caught six passes for 86 yards; Michael Mayer added eight catches for 82. Las Vegas outgained Kansas City 437–399, but the Chiefs committed no turnovers and took the ball away twice.

The win came with concern at receiver. Thornton was injured on his 55-yard reception and carted off after finishing with five catches, 111 yards and two scores. In a Sunday-night update, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Thornton dislocated his ankle and doctors put it back in place. He flew home with the team and will undergo a full evaluation and seek a second opinion Monday. NFL.com reported that he is out indefinitely; no specific return date has been established. Rashee Rice had left earlier with a hamstring injury.

Walker entered October after winning AFC Offensive Player of the Month, the Chiefs reported Thursday. His 177-yard follow-up carried Kansas City into its bye week. The Chiefs next host the Chargers on October 18; the Raiders visit New England next Sunday.
