  • Kenneth Walker III scored on a 10-yard run and a five-yard Patrick Mahomes shovel pass, giving Kansas City the lead it carried to a 24-10 win in Miami on Sunday. The Dolphins stayed within one possession deep into the fourth quarter. Mahomes finally found Travis Kelce for an 11-yard touchdown with 2:55 left, stretching the margin to 14. The ESPN final play log confirms the scoring sequence.

Walker opened the game with his 10-yard touchdown run at 12:54 of the first quarter. Miami responded with a long drive capped by Ollie Gordon II's three-yard run, tying it at seven. The Chiefs went back ahead early in the second when Mahomes flipped a short pass to Walker at the goal line. Kansas City led 14-7 at halftime, and the Dolphins' only second-half points came on Riley Patterson's 37-yard field goal in the third quarter. NFL clips show Walker's rushing score and the shovel-pass touchdown.

Miami made Kansas City work to protect the lead. It ran 69 offensive plays to the Chiefs' 49 and held the ball for 34:21. The Dolphins also converted eight of 16 third downs, compared with Kansas City's three of seven. Yet the extra possession time became only 10 points. Malik Willis completed 20 of 36 passes for 210 yards with an interception and ran for 56 yards. Gordon managed 41 yards on 17 carries. An Associated Press game report confirms the Dolphins' third-quarter push and the two Walker scores.

  • Mahomes completed 20 of 24 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Walker finished with 70 rushing yards on 18 carries, while Rashee Rice caught seven passes for 88 yards. The ESPN box score shows Kansas City gaining 334 total yards, only five more than Miami. That narrow yardage edge explains why the score did not separate until Kelce's late catch.

The defense supplied the finish. Kansas City held Miami without a touchdown after the first quarter and forced two turnovers. NFL's Week 3 analysis reports that Chris Jones tipped a Willis pass that George Karlaftis intercepted, ending a comeback opportunity. The Chiefs are 3-0; the Dolphins are 0-3. Walker set the early tone, but the decisive stretch came when Kansas City combined Kelce's touchdown with one more defensive stop.
