Virginia Tech erased a 14-6 deficit and beat Boston College 21-14 after Jeffrey Overton Jr. Broke a 76-yard touchdown run.

Virginia Tech defeated Boston College 21-14 at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill after overcoming a 14-6 deficit. The Hokies scored the game's first six points on John Love field goals of 45 and 22 yards, but Boston College controlled the middle stretch and took the lead with two rushing touchdowns by Malachi McKenzie.
McKenzie's first touchdown covered five yards and came with 9:52 left in the third quarter. Luca Lombardo kicked the extra point for Boston College. McKenzie scored again on a two-yard run early in the fourth quarter, giving the Eagles a 14-6 lead. Boston College's offense had found its best answer in the run game even though quarterback Mason McKenzie completed only 11 of 23 passes for 111 yards.
Virginia Tech changed the game through its passing and defensive pressure. Ethan Grunkemeyer completed 22 of 35 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown. With 8:05 remaining, he found M. Jackson for a 14-yard score. Virginia Tech then used Jeffrey Overton Jr. on the two-point attempt, tying the game at 14. Four minutes later, Overton broke a 76-yard touchdown run. Love's extra point put the Hokies back in front 21-14 with 4:58 left.

Overton finished with 209 rushing yards on 25 carries, averaging 8.4 yards per attempt. His deciding run was the longest play in the game and came after Virginia Tech had erased Boston College's lead. Virginia Tech totaled 223 rushing yards, compared with 150 for Boston College. McKenzie led the Eagles with 138 yards on 26 carries and two scores, making the game a ground battle even though both teams struggled on third down.
Virginia Tech converted 4 of 15 third downs and Boston College converted 2 of 13. The Hokies gained 370 total yards to Boston College's 261 and recorded four sacks, with Cortez Harris responsible for two. Boston College's E'Lla Boykin had two sacks, but the Eagles did not force a turnover. Virginia Tech gave the ball away once. Virginia Tech produced 147 passing yards, while Boston College produced 111. The Hokies' defense limited the Eagles' late possessions after Overton's breakaway.
The win moved Virginia Tech to 4-0 and opened its ACC schedule with a road victory. Boston College fell to 2-2 after leading by eight points in the fourth quarter. The game was played at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, and the final scoring sequence left Virginia Tech unbeaten.
