  • Utah State turned a three-point halftime deficit into a 21-10 homecoming win over Troy on Saturday night in Logan. Grady Brosterhous threw two touchdown passes and led the Aggies in rushing, while Utah State’s defense kept the Trojans scoreless after intermission. The final scoring sequence in ESPN’s live game record shows Utah State putting up 14 unanswered points in the third quarter and neither side scoring in the fourth.

The game initially looked open. Brosterhous found Javon Robinson for a 57-yard touchdown less than two minutes in, but Troy answered with a 13-yard scoring pass from Goose Crowder to Howard Kinchen. Ethan Head’s 45-yard field goal early in the second quarter gave Troy a 10-7 lead. Utah State did not score again before halftime, leaving its opening strike as the Aggies’ only points through two quarters.

Brosterhous reset the game after the break. At 11:02 of the third, he hit Eli Wood from five yards out to put Utah State back ahead 14-10. Javen Jacobs added a six-yard touchdown run later in the period. That second score mattered because Troy had not been shut out of a half before this point in the game: the Trojans needed a touchdown to close the gap, and the Utah State defense never allowed one. The final period passed without another scoring play.

  • Brosterhous finished 18-for-28 for 242 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception, according to ESPN’s final box score. He also ran 15 times for 89 yards, the most on his team. Wood caught seven passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. For Troy, Crowder completed 25 of 49 for 226 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Gavin Griffin led the Trojans’ rushing attack with 66 yards on 11 carries; the visitors amassed 169 yards on the ground but could not turn that production into points after halftime.

The teams were relatively close in total offense—413 yards for Utah State and 395 for Troy—so the score was shaped by the timing of Utah State’s stops and third-quarter finishes. Troy went 4-for-13 on third down and committed three turnovers; Utah State went 4-for-11 and gave it away twice. The Aggies’ official game preview identified the Troy visit as their annual homecoming game and nonconference finale. The result gives Utah State a home win heading out of that early-season stretch, with the defensive second half providing a clearer separator than the overall yardage figures.
