UCLA remained unbeaten by outlasting Purdue 52-38 in a late West Coast finish that turned on the Bruins' balance. UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava completed 19 of 31 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns, while Wayne Knight carried 18 times for 177 yards and two scores. The Bruins moved to 3-0; Purdue fell to 1-2.
The final score reflects a game in which both offenses found answers. Purdue quarterback Ryan Browne threw for 378 yards and three touchdowns on 19-of-30 passing, and Xavier Townsend caught six passes for 162 yards and two scores. Purdue also received two rushing touchdowns from Fame Ijeboi, keeping the Boilermakers within reach even as UCLA built its lead.
UCLA's response came from a diversified attack. Knight supplied the explosive ground production, while Iamaleava's three touchdown throws prevented Purdue from loading the box. Semaj Morgan added four catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns, and the Bruins' defense recorded two sacks while holding Purdue to 47 rushing yards on 17 carries.

The result closes one of the unfinished games carried from the previous west-close checkpoint. Purdue's passing numbers made the game competitive, but UCLA won the down-to-down efficiency battle with a running game that repeatedly created manageable situations. The Bruins' 52 points also gave them a second straight game above 50 after the schedule's opening weeks.
Purdue's best stretches came when Browne attacked downfield, but those gains did not produce the same consistency as UCLA's combination of runs and short completions. The Bruins could reset the game with Knight, then ask Iamaleava to attack a defense forced to respect every gap. That sequence kept the home team ahead when the Boilermakers answered with passing touchdowns.
The official ESPN event packet and team reporting were checked before publication. UCLA and Purdue X and YouTube lanes were searched for an event-specific dated native item; no verifiable native URL was available in the checked lanes, so no unrelated clip was attached. UCLA leaves the weekend 3-0, while Purdue must regroup after allowing 52 points in a game it moved the ball well enough to win.
