The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a trade that sends quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Baltimore Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday. The deal is expected to be completed this weekend. Terms have not been reported.
Baltimore needed a quarterback with experience. Lamar Jackson hurt the thumb on his throwing hand on the Ravens' first snap Sunday in Buffalo, and USA Today reports he will have surgery and may not play again this season. Tyler Huntley, who replaced him, has a season-ending turf toe injury, according to Schefter and Rapoport.
Fagnano still starts Thursday
The trade won't be done in time for Thursday night's game against Jacksonville. Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano makes his first NFL start, with Kedon Slovis and Austin Reed, both added this week, behind him. ESPN counts the three as having no career starts, 44 snaps and 23 pass attempts between them.

The Ravens then get 11 days off, which should give Brissett time to learn the offense before Baltimore hosts the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night, Nov. 16.
What Baltimore gets
Brissett, 33, is in his 11th season and has 73 career starts. He started Arizona's first eight games this year and threw for 1,719 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions, according to the Ravens' website. Last season he threw for 3,366 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 starts.
He also knows the coach who will be teaching him the playbook. Ravens quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork held the same job in Arizona last season and worked with Brissett in Cleveland in 2022.
Arizona pulled Brissett late in the third quarter of Sunday's 33-30 overtime win over Dallas and moved him to third string behind Gardner Minshew II and rookie Carson Beck. ESPN reports he asked for a trade Monday, and talks with Baltimore picked up Tuesday afternoon.
"Out of respect for the process and just working to get stuff finalized, I mean, I really don't have much of a comment on it," Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said Wednesday.
Where the Ravens stand
Baltimore is 4-4, last in the AFC North, and has lost three straight. ESPN notes the Ravens have been held to 13 points or fewer in three straight games for the first time since 2005.
