Andre Szmyt's 56-yard field goal with 10 seconds left gave the Cleveland Browns a 27–24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, settling an AFC North game that Cleveland nearly let slip away. Grant Delpit intercepted Aaron Rodgers' final deep pass, and the Browns improved to 3–1 while Pittsburgh fell to 2–2.
Deshaun Watson delivered the possession Cleveland needed after Rodgers erased an eight-point deficit late in the fourth quarter. Watson completed four passes for 46 yards on the winning drive, including gains of 17 and 10 yards to Jerry Jeudy and a 12-yard completion to Harold Fannin Jr. The Browns also survived a false start with a 10-second runoff and a sack before Szmyt made his career-long kick.
The finish reversed the direction of a quarter that had belonged to Pittsburgh. Early in the fourth, Watson's deep attempt for Denzel Boston was intercepted by Richard Spears-Jennings. Officials initially called defensive pass interference, but Jack Sawyer's touch on the pass negated that penalty and allowed the turnover to stand.

Rodgers then found DK Metcalf for 43 yards and finished the possession with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Darnell Washington. Pittsburgh's two-point attempt failed, leaving Cleveland ahead 21–16. Szmyt's 44-yard field goal later restored an eight-point cushion, but it did not end the Steelers' comeback.
Metcalf caught passes of 22 and 28 yards on Pittsburgh's tying drive. Rodgers connected with Pat Freiermuth for a three-yard touchdown with 1:42 remaining, then ran in the two-point conversion to make it 24–24. That sequence left Watson enough time to move Cleveland back into field-goal range.
Cleveland had built its early advantage through three different touchdown scorers. Jaleel McLaughlin broke loose for a 28-yard rushing score, Quinshon Judkins scored from two yards out, and Watson found Fannin for a two-yard touchdown late in the first half. Chris Boswell's field goal before halftime cut the Browns' lead to 21–10.
Watson finished 24 of 33 for 268 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Boston led Cleveland with 89 receiving yards on four catches, while KC Concepcion caught five passes for 64 yards. Judkins contributed 53 rushing yards and six receptions for another 43 yards.
Rodgers threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns, but his two interceptions and Cleveland's five sacks gave the Browns enough defensive stops to survive. Metcalf finished with 115 receiving yards, and Jaylen Warren ran for 93 yards on 17 carries. Pittsburgh generated the late scoring response; Cleveland produced the final answer.
Both teams have a bye before returning October 11. The Browns visit the Jets, and the Steelers host the Colts.
