Arizona's late-season push continued Tuesday with a 7-2 win at Colorado. Michael Soroka struck out nine over seven innings, and the Diamondbacks gave him a three-run lead before he took the mound. Nolan Arenado added his 28th home run against his former club as Arizona finished with 13 hits.
The first inning set the terms. Gabriel Moreno doubled home Ildemaro Vargas, Geraldo Perdomo singled in Moreno and Corbin Carroll doubled in Perdomo. Arizona kept producing after Colorado briefly narrowed the margin. Tim Tawa hit a run-scoring ground-rule double in the third and later brought home Jordan Lawlar with a sacrifice fly. Moreno added a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Arenado's solo homer in the seventh supplied the final Arizona run.
Colorado got both its runs in the third. Mickey Moniak hit a solo homer, and Connor Norby's sacrifice fly scored Troy Johnston. Soroka allowed only two hits across his seven innings, with two runs, one earned, and one walk. The Rockies finished with three hits in the game.

Arenado went 3-for-5, and Tawa drove in two runs despite just two official at-bats. Moreno also drove in two. The Associated Press reported that the result was Colorado's 100th loss of the season, its fourth consecutive season reaching that mark. That context makes Arizona's early lead part of two different closing stretches: the Diamondbacks were still trying to win games in the final week, while the Rockies crossed another difficult season threshold.
