  • Spencer Shrader made a 53-yard field goal with 16 seconds remaining to give Indianapolis a 19-17 win over Houston on Sunday. The Colts had led for most of the afternoon, then watched Woody Marks put the Texans ahead 17-16 on a one-yard run with 1:48 left. Daniel Jones guided the final possession far enough for Shrader's fourth made field goal, and the Texans' last two passes fell incomplete. The ESPN final play log sets out each turn in the finish, and NFL video shows the winning kick.

Indianapolis opened with a 39-yard Shrader field goal, then Jones hit Keenan Allen for a six-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. Houston got its first points on a one-yard pass from C.J. Stroud to Foster Moreau. Shrader's 58-yarder with 1:03 left before halftime gave the Colts a 13-7 lead. Neither offense scored in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter first looked like another Colts escape. Shrader made from 37 yards to extend the advantage to nine, but Ka'imi Fairbairn's 24-yard field goal narrowed it to six. Houston's defense kept the game alive despite Indianapolis holding the ball for more than 35 minutes. The Texans forced three turnovers; Will Anderson Jr. recorded 2.5 sacks, and Reed Blankenship intercepted Jones near the goal line in the third quarter, according to the ESPN box score and the NFL's game account.

  • With the Colts still ahead 16-10, Danielle Hunter forced a Jones fumble that gave Houston another chance. Stroud led the Texans to the one-yard line, where Marks scored with 1:48 remaining. Fairbairn's extra point put Houston ahead for the first time, 17-16. It was a sharp change in a game where Indianapolis had allowed only 223 total yards and had controlled long stretches of play.

Jones did enough on the final drive to give Shrader a chance from 53 yards. The kick reversed the result a second time in less than two minutes. Jones finished 24 of 36 for 235 yards, one touchdown and an interception; Jonathan Taylor carried 23 times for 68 yards. Stroud completed 16 of 27 for 167 yards and one touchdown. Those passing figures are gross yards; team net passing is lower after sacks. The Colts gained 300 total yards and survived a minus-three turnover margin. The league's Week 3 report identifies the win as Indianapolis' first of the season and Houston's third loss.
