Shipley reportedly faces multiple weeks out as Eagles lose another back

Will Shipley could miss multiple weeks after suffering a partial tear of his plantar fascia in Philadelphia’s loss to Jacksonville, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday. The new diagnosis deepens the Eagles’ shortage at running back after Shipley had stepped into a larger role.
Schefter’s report describes a possible absence, rather than a confirmed return date. The report does not give a confirmed return date.
Saquon Barkley missed the London game with a hamstring injury, and Tank Bigsby had already gone on injured reserve. Philadelphia’s Friday injury report put Shipley in line to lead the backfield against the Jaguars. The team’s plan changed again when he left Sunday’s game with the foot injury.

Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele are the next backs on the depth chart, Sportsnet reported. Their presence gives Philadelphia options while it assesses Shipley and Barkley, but the report does not establish who will start the next game.
The Eagles host Carolina on Sunday. Practice participation and the eventual game-status report will provide the next indication of which backs can play. Until then, the reported multiweek concern for Shipley adds another unsettled position to an offense already working through injuries.
