  • San José State held off Hawaii's second-half rally for a 20–16 victory Saturday night in Honolulu, retaining the Dick Tomey Legacy Trophy with its sixth consecutive win in the series. Luke Weaver threw two touchdown passes, and the Spartans protected their lead with a late interception and two fourth-down conversions.

The Spartans led 14–0 at halftime but twice saw Hawaii close to within a point. Caleb Womack intercepted Micah Alejado with 6:46 left in the fourth quarter, giving San José State possession at the Hawaii 38. The ensuing drive lasted 5:31 and ended with Trajan Sinatra's 30-yard field goal, extending the lead to four with 1:15 remaining.

Weaver found Cooper Hoch for eleven yards on the first fourth-down conversion of that possession. Jabari Bates later gained three yards on another fourth down, moving the Spartans inside the ten. Those plays kept Hawaii's offense on the sideline as San José State used up most of the remaining clock.

  • Hawaii still had one final opportunity. Alejado moved the Rainbow Warriors into Spartans territory, but the final pass toward the end zone was broken up. Hawaii's comeback produced sixteen second-half points without ever producing the lead.

Weaver completed 19 of 28 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions against his former team. He found Kamaehu Kopa-Kaawalauole for a ten-yard score early in the second quarter, then Carson Clark for a twelve-yard touchdown. Clark finished with five receptions for 74 yards; Bates rushed 27 times for 74 yards and added 39 receiving yards.

Jayden Robertson's second-quarter interception helped set up San José State's first touchdown, giving the Spartans a short field at the Hawaii 20. Their next scoring drive covered 73 yards. Hawaii had already missed a chance to take the lead when its first-quarter possession ended on downs near the Spartans' goal line.

  • Sean Olvera-Harle's field goals from 44 and 24 yards started Hawaii's recovery after halftime. Alejado then connected with Devin Alves for a 58-yard touchdown, making it 14–13. Sinatra answered from 24 yards before Olvera-Harle's second 44-yard kick brought Hawaii within one again.

Alves caught three passes for 121 yards. Hawaii finished with 438 total yards to San José State's 324 but lost the turnover battle, throwing two interceptions while the Spartans committed no turnovers. Its second interception became the final scoring possession that left the Rainbow Warriors needing a touchdown.

Hawaii News Now reported that receiver Carson Brown was ruled out for the rest of the game after a hard fall and later wore a sling across his left shoulder. That report did not establish a diagnosis or a timetable for his return.

San José State improves to 3–2 overall and 1–0 in the Mountain West and hosts Wyoming on Friday. Hawaii falls to 1–4 and 0–3 in conference play before visiting Arizona State next Saturday.
