Marsh led Indiana with 120 receiving yards on seven catches. Becker finished with eight catches for 107 yards. Together, they accounted for 227 of Hoover's 251 passing yards, giving Indiana productive options outside while Richard and Beebe repeatedly moved the offense on the ground.
Indiana scored on its opening sequence of successful possessions through Hoover's throws, Richard's 14-yard touchdown run and Nico Radicic's 39-yard field goal. The second Becker touchdown pushed the lead to 37–0. Rutgers then got on the board with AJ Surace's 53-yard touchdown pass to Ben Black III.
Clay Thevenin followed with a one-yard touchdown run, and Dyzier Carter's two-point run made the score 37–15. Indiana did not let that stretch become a sustained comeback. Beebe's one-yard touchdown restored a four-score gap, and Radicic added a 48-yard field goal to finish the scoring.
Rutgers gained 254 total yards, including just 59 rushing. Surace completed six of 10 throws for 128 yards and a touchdown. Dylan Lonergan completed five of 10 for 67 yards. KJ Duff led the Scarlet Knights with four catches for 78 yards, while Thevenin carried 12 times for 47 yards and his touchdown.
Indiana finished without a turnover or an accepted penalty. Rutgers converted only two of 14 third downs, making it difficult to maintain drives against a Hoosiers offense that repeatedly reached scoring territory. Indiana's rushing total alone exceeded Rutgers' total offensive yardage.
The Hoosiers' official pregame reporting identified Rutgers as their first road game of the season and listed Indiana at 4–0 overall and 1–0 in the Big Ten. Indiana improves to 5–0 and 2–0. That report also documented a 20-game winning streak entering Saturday; the victory extends it to 21. Rutgers, which entered 1–3 overall and 0–1 in league play, drops to 1–4 and 0–2.
