Ravens rule out Jackson and Hendrickson; Huntley starts in Atlanta

Baltimore will start Tyler Huntley against Atlanta on Sunday night after ruling out Lamar Jackson with an ankle injury. Head coach Jesse Minter also ruled out outside linebacker Trey Hendrickson, who has a finger injury, the Ravens announced Friday.

Jackson missed the entire week of practice after leaving the second half of last week’s game against Tennessee. Friday’s announcement settles the starting-quarterback question before Baltimore travels to face the Falcons.

Huntley gets the assignment with some recent starting experience in this offense. Baltimore won both games he started last season, according to the team. Minter expressed confidence in him during Friday’s press conference.

Hendrickson’s absence adds a separate loss on defense. The two injuries affect opposite sides of the ball, and the team’s announcement does not establish when either player will return.

Cornerback Marlon Humphrey returned to practice Friday after dealing with hamstring and calf injuries. That gives him a chance to play in Atlanta, but a practice return alone does not confirm his Sunday availability.

Newly acquired center Cam Jurgens also will have to wait for his Baltimore debut. The Ravens said he remains in concussion protocol and will not debut until next week. His status further limits the personnel available for Huntley’s first start of the season.

The final game-status report will provide the remaining designations. Jackson and Hendrickson have already been ruled out.
