Mason Heintschel opened the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Carson Lee, then found Carson Kent for three yards and Darius McCray for eight. Heintschel returned to Lee for a 10-yard score and McCray for a 48-yard touchdown before halftime. Lee caught his third touchdown, a seven-yard pass, in the third quarter. Bucknell gained 136 yards, with 105 passing and 31 rushing. Christopher Dietrich completed four of seven passes for 56 yards, and Jack Sullivan carried 10 times for 31 yards. Bucknell converted 2 of 13 third downs. The Bison did not lose a turnover, but their short possessions and 31 rushing yards prevented them from keeping pace with Pittsburgh's passing attack.
The shutout was built before the second half began. Pittsburgh's first five touchdowns came through Heintschel's arm, including the two McCray completions that covered 56 yards combined. The Panthers' balance showed in the final yardage total even though the passing game supplied the largest share. Pitt held the ball for 32:34 and kept Bucknell from turning its possessions into points.
Pittsburgh's defensive result was equally complete. Bucknell's 136 yards were less than one-fifth of Pitt's total, and the Bison never produced a scoring play despite retaining possession for 27:26. That contrast left the Panthers with a shutout and a four-game start built on both explosive passing and sustained third-down control.
Pittsburgh moved to 4-0 with the Homecoming win at Acrisure Stadium. The Panthers had 35 first downs to Bucknell's 10 and turned a 35-point halftime lead into a complete shutout. Heintschel's touchdown pass to Kent is available in the game's video highlights.
Pitt's next test will require the same efficiency against a conference opponent; this result itself shows how many chances the Panthers generated against Bucknell.
