  • The Orioles will remove approximately 2,000 seats from Camden Yards' left-field upper deck and turn the area into a social space for the 2027 season. Construction is set to begin immediately, with the new area scheduled to open by Opening Day.

The team announced the plan Tuesday. Drink rails and standing-room viewing areas will be joined by gathering zones with tables and chairs, a central bar, concessions and televisions. All ticketed fans will be able to use the space, rather than needing a separate reservation for that part of the park.

MLB reporter Jake Rill described the changes in his announcement-day post.

  • The renovation gives a new use to a part of Camden Yards that has often been closed. Rill's MLB report identified sections 382-388 as areas frequently shut off in recent years. The Banner's Hayes Gardner reported that the left-field upper deck generally opened only for particularly busy games.

The gathering area will also be available for private events on days when the Orioles are not playing. That adds an offseason and nongame use to space previously arranged around fixed seats and baseball viewing.

Catie Griggs, the club's president of business operations, said in the team's announcement that fans had asked for more social spaces. The planned layout offers places to sit near televisions or stand with a view of the field. The team has not announced all of the additional ballpark changes it expects to disclose later this year.

  • The Banner reported that the improvements are part of the state's ongoing investment in Camden Yards, which Maryland owns. Previous work included a new center-field videoboard, sound-system upgrades and a patio space. A bar also opened at the right-field flag court during the 2026 season.

Tuesday's left-field announcement describes a project planned for next season. The new space is not yet open, and the team's Opening Day target remains a construction schedule. Fans planning a 2027 visit can expect the upper deck to offer a different way to watch, with access included for ticket holders.
