Naylor's 10th-inning single completes Mariners' 6-5 comeback against Astros

Josh Naylor singled home Randy Arozarena with one out in the 10th inning Wednesday night, giving Seattle a 6-5 walk-off win over Houston at T-Mobile Park. The Mariners had trailed 4-0 in the third and 5-4 entering the bottom of the 10th. Their comeback kept a remote American League West path open for another day.
Houston built its early lead with four runs in the third. Jose Altuve singled home Nick Allen, Isaac Paredes lifted a sacrifice fly, and Yainer Diaz hit a two-run homer. Diaz finished with two hits and three RBIs. The lead did not survive the inning: Dominic Canzone singled in two Seattle runners, then Julio Rodríguez doubled home Randy Arozarena to make it 4-3.
Canzone's second RBI single tied the score in the fifth. He drove in three runs overall, supplying most of Seattle's offense before the final inning. Houston put a man aboard in the ninth on Jose Altuve's two-out single, but Yordan Alvarez flew out. The score remained 4-4 through nine.

The automatic runner gave Houston another opening in the 10th. Diaz drove a triple into right field to score Alvarez from second and put the Astros back in front, 5-4. Seattle reliever Cooper Criswell kept Diaz at third, preventing an insurance run. That mattered when the Mariners came to bat needing one run to continue and two to win.
J.P. Crawford began the bottom half on second. Arozarena drew a walk, Canzone advanced both runners with a groundout, and Cal Raleigh walked to fill the bases. Rodríguez then drew a bases-loaded walk from Josh Hader, forcing in Crawford with the tying run. On the next batter, Naylor lined a single into center and Arozarena scored the winner. MLB's video shows the finish; the league's game feed confirms the sequence.
The result exposed the difference between a lead and a completed game in this late-season division race. Houston's four-run third had looked decisive, but Seattle matched that total before the sixth and then survived another deficit in extras. George Kirby allowed four runs in five innings for the Mariners. Hader was charged with the loss after issuing four walks in 1 1/3 innings; Criswell got the win despite allowing the automatic runner to score.
Seattle is 74-84 with four games left, while Houston and Texas are both 78-80. MLB's official report says the Mariners' remaining route requires wins in all four games against the Angels plus losses in all remaining games for both division rivals. That makes this walk-off a reprieve, not a secured playoff spot.
