Miami (Ohio) trailed UConn 14-0 after one quarter, then scored 21 straight points and held on for a 24-21 win Saturday at Yager Stadium. Brady Stidham's 33-yard field goal with 1:58 remaining broke a tie, and the RedHawks' defense stopped the Huskies' final possession on downs. The finish came after Miami quarterback David McComb had left with an injury, forcing backup Caleb Heavner to help finish the game.
UConn's start was forceful. Kalieb Osborne led a 75-yard opening drive and found Javon Brown for a seven-yard touchdown. The quarterback later kept on fourth-and-one and ran 38 yards for another score. The Huskies had two touchdowns and a 14-point lead before Miami had scored. Osborne would finish with 215 passing yards and 84 rushing yards, but UConn's offense did not sustain that early pace.
McComb brought Miami back through the second quarter. He ended a 90-yard march with a 10-yard touchdown run, then found Brendan Loftus for a 57-yard touchdown that tied the game 14-14 before halftime. UConn's Jack O'Connor missed a 46-yard field-goal attempt at the end of the half. The RedHawks took their first lead late in the third when McComb connected with Scoop Smith for an 11-yard touchdown, completing an 83-yard drive and a run of 21 unanswered points.

The Huskies answered before the quarter ended. Osborne hit Shamar Porter for a 53-yard gain that moved the ball deep into Miami territory, and Cyncir Bowers scored from one yard out to tie it 21-21. Miami then missed two field goals, one from 44 yards that struck the crossbar and another from 40 that went wide left. Those misses made Stidham's later attempt consequential: Miami had repeatedly reached scoring range without taking advantage.
After McComb left injured, Miami's C.J. Young intercepted Osborne and gave the RedHawks the ball at the UConn 44. Heavner helped run an 11-play possession that used 6:49 before Stidham converted from 33 yards. UConn took the ball back with less than two minutes, but Miami forced a turnover on downs at its own 38 to finish the comeback. The UConn postgame account and ESPN's final data agree on the late field goal, takeaway and stop.
McComb completed 19 of 29 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Miami finished with 414 total yards to UConn's 377. Both teams are 2-2, but the RedHawks leave with a home win after overcoming a two-touchdown deficit. The Huskies will rue how a 14-0 lead became a tie by halftime and how their late drive ended short of field-goal range.
