Maye accounts for five touchdowns as Patriots overwhelm Raiders, 45-17

Four touchdown passes, 374 passing yards and a rushing score send New England past Las Vegas at Gillette Stadium.

  • Drake Maye threw four touchdown passes and ran for another score as New England beat Las Vegas 45-17 on Sunday, turning a 7-7 first-quarter tie into a game the Patriots controlled on both sides of halftime.

    Maye completed 26 of 34 passes for 374 yards. New England finished with 536 total yards, compared with the Raiders' 306, and improved to 3-2. Las Vegas also stands at 3-2.

    DeMario Douglas opened the scoring on a 35-yard pass from Maye, finding space behind the Raiders' defense to finish New England's first possession. The Patriots needed five plays to travel 79 yards after forcing a three-and-out.

  • Kirk Cousins answered with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Brock Bowers. New England then drove 86 yards, converting twice on fourth down before Rhamondre Stevenson scored from five yards out. Stevenson finished with 64 yards on 13 carries.

    The first half's biggest swing came after Corey Kiner lost a fumble in Patriots territory. Las Vegas failed to turn the takeaway into points: Dre'Mont Jones tackled Tre Tucker for an 11-yard loss on an end-around, and Matt Gay's 49-yard field-goal attempt struck the left upright.

    Maye responded with a touchdown drive before the break. Hunter Henry caught a screen for 26 yards and then hauled in an 11-yard scoring pass with 24 seconds left in the half. New England went to the locker room ahead 21-7.

  • The Patriots received the second-half kickoff and scored again, this time on a 34-yard pass from Maye to Kyle Williams. Williams caught three passes for 91 yards, including a 49-yard gain later in the third quarter.

  • Maye added a three-yard rushing touchdown to make it 35-10. Andy Borregales kicked a 28-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, and Douglas caught his second touchdown, an eight-yarder, after Dylan Laube had scored for Las Vegas.

    The Patriots shared Maye's three-yard rushing touchdown.

  • Cousins finished 19 of 28 for 243 yards and one touchdown before Fernando Mendoza entered late. Bowers caught eight passes for 110 yards, but Las Vegas managed only 38 rushing yards. Ashton Jeanty had 27 yards on 10 attempts.

    New England lost TreVeyon Henderson to an ankle injury and left tackle Will Campbell to a knee injury; neither returned, according to the Associated Press game report. The Patriots also lost cornerback Charles Woods with a shoulder injury.

    New England stays home to face the Jets next Sunday. Las Vegas hosts Buffalo.
