The Los Angeles Rams answered their Week 1 loss with a 28-6 win over the New York Giants on Monday night at SoFi Stadium. Matthew Stafford threw four touchdown passes, Davante Adams caught eight passes for 195 yards and two scores, and the Rams defense kept New York out of the end zone in the home opener.
The decisive development arrived on New York's opening drive. Quarterback Jaxson Dart hurt his knee while taking a hit on a third-down pass attempt with 11:20 left in the first quarter. He was initially listed as questionable to return, then ruled out at halftime. Jameis Winston played the rest of the game and finished 11 of 27 for 111 yards and an interception, according to the final box score.
Los Angeles took advantage of the change. Stafford opened the scoring with a 31-yard touchdown pass to Adams with 11 seconds left in the first quarter, then found Kyren Williams for a 10-yard score early in the second. Adams finished the night with 195 yards, his fourth-highest total in a regular-season game, and his second touchdown was an 11-yard fade with 6:21 left in the third quarter.

The Rams defense also controlled the key possessions. Cornerback Trent McDuffie intercepted Winston's deep throw intended for Malik Nabers in the second quarter. New York got the ball back inside the Rams' 11-yard line after Jevon Holland forced a Williams fumble, but Los Angeles held the Giants to Dominic Zvada's 24-yard field goal. Aaron Donald, making his 2026 debut, supplied a third-down tackle for loss in that goal-line stand and finished with three tackles.
The Giants added another Zvada field goal from 52 yards in the third quarter, but they did not reach the end zone. Stafford's fourth touchdown, a five-yard pass to tight end Terrance Ferguson with 8:57 left in the fourth, completed the scoring. The Rams finished with a clean enough offensive night to withstand one interception by Stafford and Williams' fumble.
New York also left with a longer injury list. The Giants' official postgame report listed Dart's knee, Malik Nabers' shoulder, Andrew Thomas' groin and Brian Burns' ankle as in-game concerns. Nabers returned after his first-quarter injury, while Dart, Thomas and Burns remained the main follow-up questions. NFL Network reported after the game that Dart's initial X-rays were negative and that an MRI was planned Tuesday; Giants coach John Harbaugh said the injury was in the neighborhood of an MCL sprain, without confirming a diagnosis.
The result leaves both teams 1-1. Los Angeles gets its first win after a 27-7 loss to San Francisco, while New York returns home for Sunday's game against Tennessee with its quarterback's MRI as the immediate question. The Rams' next step is to carry the defensive discipline and the Stafford-Adams connection into Week 3 after a night in which their two strongest units controlled the game from the opening quarter.
