Malachi Toney’s one-handed grab against Central Michigan looked like another Miami touchdown. An offensive-pass-interference penalty wiped it out.
With the Hurricanes leading 35-3 in the third quarter on Sept. 26, Toney hauled in a pass from 12 yards out. The catch drew an enthusiastic response from Bussin’ With The Boys, which shared the clip with “OH MY MALACHI TONEY.” The highlight remained impressive, but it added nothing to Miami’s score.
ESPN’s play-by-play records the catch at 8:10 of the third quarter and marks it nullified by offensive pass interference. It should not be confused with Toney’s earlier scoring reception: an eight-yard touchdown from Darian Mensah at 9:45 of the second quarter. That play counted.

Toney finished the 52-3 win with six catches for 120 yards and one touchdown. The erased catch was separate from that official receiving line. Miami’s margin made the penalty immaterial to the result, but the distinction matters for anyone watching the short clip without the rest of the broadcast.
The Hurricanes’ game recap covers the full result. This moment was the spectacular catch that never reached the box score.
