Oregon State's passing game kept finding space Saturday, and Jesse Legree kept turning it into touchdowns. The freshman caught 10 passes for 191 yards and three scores in a 66-14 win over San Diego State at Reser Stadium, setting a school record with his sixth consecutive 100-yard receiving game.
Braden Atkinson completed 29 of 38 passes for 409 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. Oregon State's final box score was as lopsided as the result: 651 yards against 147, 35 first downs against six and more than 42 minutes of possession. The Beavers improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Pac-12.
The decisive stretch came before halftime. Atkinson opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown pass to fellow quarterback Maalik Murphy, and AJ Newberry followed with a 27-yard touchdown run. Legree's 11-yard scoring catch five seconds into the second quarter made it 21-0. San Diego State already needed several scores to catch up while struggling to sustain a possession.
