Miami turned a close start into an 8-2, 12-inning win over Chicago on Tuesday at Wrigley Field. The Marlins were tied 2-2 after six innings, then scored six times in the 12th to finish with 11 hits. Kyle Stowers homered earlier, scored three times and helped start the decisive rally.
The Marlins scored first in the fourth when Agustín Ramírez singled home Stowers. Stowers then hit his 20th homer in the sixth, a solo drive to left-center that gave Miami a 2-0 lead. Chicago answered in the bottom half after Pete Crow-Armstrong reached and scored on Michael Busch's fielder's-choice grounder, with a missed catch by catcher Joe Mack extending the inning. Ian Happ's single brought Seiya Suzuki home later in the inning, tying the game at 2.
Miami finally broke through in the 12th. After a replay-overturned tag play, Griffin Conine's single scored Esteury Ruiz. Jakob Marsee followed with a single that brought Conine home, and Stowers walked with the bases loaded to force in Marsee. Javier Sanoja then singled home Heriberto Hernández, and Joe Mack's two-run single finished the six-run inning. Mack went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Sanoja had two hits and drove in a run.

Chicago managed seven hits, with Crow-Armstrong reaching twice and Suzuki going 2-for-6. Miami's bullpen covered the final seven innings after Chicago tied the game in the sixth. Josh Ekness struck out two in a scoreless 11th, and Victor Vodnik handled the 12th. The Marlins also survived the replay challenge before the go-ahead hit.
The extra-inning wait made the final burst matter. Miami's first six innings produced the tie, while the Marlins' contact in the 12th turned a stalled game into a six-run cushion. Chicago's pitchers issued five walks and allowed 11 hits, and Miami kept extending the inning until Mack's final single.
Stowers supplied the power, but Miami won with the extra-inning sequence: Ramírez started the scoring, Conine and Marsee reached in the 12th, and Sanoja and Mack delivered the final two hits.
