Scottre Humphrey ran for two touchdowns and New Mexico shut out Hawaii after halftime to win 21-10 Saturday night in Honolulu. The Lobos trailed 10-0 at the break, survived another giveaway in the third quarter and took their first lead with 6:57 remaining.
Toa Fa'avae supplied that go-ahead score on a 21-yard run. Humphrey followed with a 49-yard touchdown on New Mexico's next possession, giving the Lobos enough room to finish a game that had been slipping away from them early.
New Mexico improved to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West. Hawaii fell to 1-6 and 0-4 after being held to 48 rushing yards on 27 attempts. The Lobos rushed for 243 yards, led by Humphrey's 90 on 15 carries and Kiefer Sibley's 87 on 17.

Hawaii built its lead on Sean Olvera-Harle's 27-yard field goal and Micah Alejado's one-yard touchdown pass to Titan Lacaden with six seconds left in the second quarter. New Mexico lost the ball twice before halftime and committed 12 penalties for 95 yards, according to its official postgame report.
The Lobos changed the game on their first possession after the break. Facing fourth-and-2 at the Hawaii 40, receiver Bailen George took the ball on an end-around and threw to Fa'avae for 35 yards. Humphrey finished the nine-play, 75-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 10-7.
But the next major opportunity belonged to Hawaii. An interception gave the Rainbow Warriors the ball deep in their own territory, and Alejado's 47-yard completion to Josiah Fetui carried them to the New Mexico 8 as the third quarter ended.
Speech saves a touchdown
Darren Agu stopped DeVon Rice for a four-yard loss on the next snap. Two plays later, Drew Speech caught Alejado from behind near the goal line and forced a fumble. Mercury Swaim recovered in the end zone for a touchback.
New Mexico used the reprieve to travel 80 yards in 12 plays. Fa'avae kept on third-and-5 and scored from 21 yards out, putting the Lobos ahead 14-10. Hawaii punted on its next possession, and Humphrey broke through for the 49-yard touchdown with 3:24 left.
Tavian Combs intercepted Alejado on the following drive after Kevin Longstreet deflected the pass. New Mexico kept the ball for the rest of the night.
Alejado finished 23 of 40 for 250 yards with one touchdown and one interception. New Mexico won despite three turnovers and 16 penalties for 145 yards. Its defense allowed no points across Hawaii's six second-half possessions.
