  • Georgia took the No. 1 spot in Sunday's Associated Press Top 25, Notre Dame rose to No. 2 and Texas fell to No. 7 after a Saturday that changed the top of the college football rankings.

The Bulldogs received 66 of the 70 first-place votes after their 20-17 road win over Alabama. Notre Dame drew one first-place vote following a 58-7 victory over Stanford. Miami, which received two, moved to No. 3. Ohio State and Indiana completed the top five, with the Hoosiers collecting the remaining first-place vote.

Alabama stayed sixth despite its loss to Georgia. The Tide finished just one point ahead of Texas in the voting, 1,372 to 1,371. The Longhorns had entered the weekend at No. 1 before losing 27-24 to Oklahoma in the Red River rivalry.

  • The new order sets up two top-10 matchups next weekend. No. 4 Ohio State visits No. 5 Indiana, while No. 2 Notre Dame travels to No. 8 BYU. The Irish's rise gives that road test added weight in the weekly poll.

Several changes farther down were larger. UCLA climbed nine places to No. 12 after beating Oregon 17-15. The Ducks fell out of the Top 25. Kentucky returned to the rankings at No. 15 following its 35-34 overtime victory against LSU, which dropped from tenth to 22nd.

Wake Forest entered at No. 21 and Northwestern at No. 25. Florida and Pittsburgh joined Oregon among the teams leaving the rankings. Texas Tech moved into the top 10, behind BYU and Ole Miss.

  • These are the AP's media-voter rankings. The week-to-week movement reflects how that panel judged the results; it does not settle a College Football Playoff place. For the teams at the top, the next round of ranked opponents gives voters another direct comparison, beginning with Ohio State-Indiana and Notre Dame-BYU.
