
DJ Lagway accounts for five touchdowns as Baylor routs Arizona State 55–19
Baylor broke the game open with 21 third-quarter points, improving to 4–1 overall and 2–0 in the Big 12.

DJ Lagway threw four touchdown passes and ran for another Saturday night as Baylor beat Arizona State 55–19 in Tempe. The Bears led 24–13 at halftime, then scored three third-quarter touchdowns to turn an eleven-point game into a runaway.
Lagway completed 25 of 40 passes for 306 yards without an interception. His touchdown passes went to four different receivers: Tony Livingston, Louis Brown IV, Hawkins Polley and Jadon Porter. Baylor's official report identified the four passing touchdowns as a career high.
The Bears also had two long touchdown runs. Ryelan Morris answered Arizona State's opening field goal with a 63-yard score, putting Baylor ahead 7–3 in the first quarter. Caden Knighten went 75 yards on the first play of a third-quarter possession to increase the lead to 45–16. Each finished with 84 rushing yards; Morris carried nine times and Knighten six.

Arizona State briefly kept the game within reach before halftime. Cutter Boley's 30-yard touchdown pass to Omarion Miller cut the deficit to 21–13 with 1:51 left in the second quarter. Baylor responded with a ten-play drive and Rhett Armstrong's 36-yard field goal on the final play of the half.
The opening stretch of the third quarter settled it. Baylor drove 77 yards, finishing with Lagway's three-yard pass to Polley. Ryan Davis then intercepted Boley at the Arizona State 40, giving the Bears a short field. Lagway found Porter for an eight-yard touchdown five plays later, stretching the lead to 38–13.
Arizona Sports reporter Damon Allred described Arizona State's difficulty protecting Boley and matching Baylor's physical play. The difference showed up in the rushing totals: Baylor gained 244 yards on the ground, while the Sun Devils managed 99. Baylor finished with 564 total yards to Arizona State's 409 and converted nine of 15 third downs.
Gavin Freeman led the Bears' receivers with seven catches for 115 yards. Brown caught six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Lagway added his eleven-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter, and Armstrong's 23-yard field goal completed Baylor's scoring.
Boley completed 25 of 43 passes for 304 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Reed Harris caught seven passes for 125 yards, while Miller had five receptions for 85 yards and Arizona State's only touchdown. Carson Smith made all four of his field-goal attempts, from 46, 32, 36 and 40 yards.
Baylor improves to 4–1 overall and 2–0 in the Big 12 with its fourth consecutive victory. Arizona State falls to 2–2 and 1–1. The Sun Devils found passing gains and repeated field-goal opportunities, but they could not keep pace once Baylor added touchdowns on its first two possessions after halftime.
