  • Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes and set the Dallas Cowboys' franchise record for touchdown passes in a 37-20 win over Washington on Sunday.

Prescott started the scoring with a three-yard pass to CeeDee Lamb, then found Jake Ferguson for a 10-yard touchdown. Washington answered through Jayden Daniels' four-yard throw to Stefon Diggs and two field goals from Drew Stevens, but Dallas kept adding points.

  • Ferguson caught a second touchdown, this one from 12 yards, and Prescott later hit Lamb for 24 yards. Brandon Aubrey supported the offense with field goals from 25, 44 and 60 yards. Dallas finished with 37 points because its passing game and kicking game both converted chances.

  • Washington's offense stayed within reach for a while. Diggs caught a 20-yard touchdown from Marcus Mariota, but the Commanders never produced a fourth-quarter surge. Dallas' defense held the margin after Aubrey's 60-yard kick and forced Washington to chase points rather than build another sustained drive.

  • Prescott's record was part of a broader offensive performance. Lamb caught two touchdowns, Ferguson caught two, and Dallas also received three field goals from Aubrey. Washington used two quarterbacks and scored twice through Diggs, yet the Commanders could not match the Cowboys' consistency in the red zone.

  • Dallas improved to 1-1, while Washington fell to 0-2. Prescott's four touchdown passes supplied the headline, but the Cowboys won by keeping pressure on Washington through every scoring phase. The Commanders produced enough offense to remain competitive for stretches, then lost the game as Dallas continued finishing drives.

Dallas entered the game 0-1 and improved to 1-1. Washington entered 0-1 and fell to 0-2. Prescott's four touchdown passes therefore repaired the Cowboys' record rather than moving them to 2-0. The quarterback's record-breaking 249th touchdown pass moved him past Tony Romo for the franchise mark, according to ESPN's report and the Cowboys' official recap. Lamb finished with two touchdown catches, Ferguson added two more, and Aubrey's 60-yard field goal showed Dallas could keep scoring even when Washington forced the Cowboys away from the goal line. The Commanders changed quarterbacks after Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow, with Mariota later throwing the 20-yard touchdown to Diggs. That personnel change affected Washington's ability to mount a late response. Dallas' four touchdown passes and three field goals made the final margin much more stable than the early one-score exchanges suggested.

The win also separated the teams in the standings. Dallas can carry a .500 record into the next week with a quarterback milestone and a defense that held Washington to 20 points, while the Commanders now need a response after two losses.
