The Indianapolis Colts visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night in a Week 2 matchup that puts two different opening-week stories in the same prime-time window. Kansas City enters at 1-0 after opening the season at Arrowhead, while Indianapolis is looking for a response after its 41-23 loss to Baltimore. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
The Chiefs' defensive availability is the first variable to watch. Kansas City ruled out left tackle Josh Simmons and safety Chamarri Conner for a second straight week. Defensive tackle Chris Jones is listed as questionable with a calf issue, and cornerback Mansoor Delane is also questionable with a shoulder injury. Coach Andy Reid told the team's site that he expected the situation around Jones to be manageable after Friday's practice, but the official designation remains part of the pregame picture.
Indianapolis has a shorter list. Receiver Ashton Dulin is out with an ankle injury, while running back DJ Giddens is questionable with a knee issue. DeForest Buckner was listed after missing Friday's practice with an ankle issue but carries no game designation. Alec Pierce also carries no designation after missing Thursday's practice while managing a heel injury. Anthony Richardson is listed without a game designation after full participation Friday.

The matchup gives Kansas City a chance to make Arrowhead's second straight prime-time game about defensive pressure and Patrick Mahomes' command of the offense. Indianapolis can attack with Jonathan Taylor, who opened the season with 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries, while its defense must handle a Chiefs team that has already secured the early advantage in the AFC West race. The Colts lead the regular-season series 14-10, but Kansas City won last year's meeting in overtime, 23-20.
The Colts' official preview also points to the practical stakes: a road trip to the defending home crowd's stage after a lopsided loss, with Taylor's run game and the defense's response carrying more weight than the series history. Kansas City has its own personnel question at the center of the night. If Jones plays, Indianapolis must account for one of the league's most disruptive interior defenders; if he sits, the Colts can test a different front while the Chiefs cover for two confirmed absences.
The Colts enter the night needing a sharper defensive response after their opening-week loss, while Kansas City weighs how its defensive front will operate with two players ruled out and Jones listed as questionable.
