  • Cody White caught two touchdown passes from Kirk Cousins, and the Las Vegas Raiders pulled away for a 26-14 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

The Raiders opened with a 40-yard touchdown from Cousins to Tre Tucker, but Los Angeles answered when Omarion Hampton scored from one yard. The game stayed level at 7 before Matt Gay's 59-yard field goal gave Las Vegas a narrow halftime edge.

  • Cousins then returned to White as the Raiders created separation. White caught a 13-yard touchdown pass, and his 11-yard scoring catch later made the margin 24-14. The two touchdowns gave Las Vegas the finishing punch the Chargers could not match after halftime.

  • The Chargers did have an answer in the middle of the game. Justin Herbert found Oronde Gadsden for a 10-yard touchdown, bringing Los Angeles within a score. But the Chargers did not produce another touchdown drive, and a late team safety completed the Raiders' scoring.

  • Las Vegas' scoring sequence showed the value of finishing possessions. The Raiders combined three touchdown passes with Gay's long field goal, while Los Angeles relied on one rushing score, one passing score and a second-half safety against the Raiders. Once White's second touchdown arrived, the Chargers needed a sustained response and never found it.

The Raiders improved to 1-1, while the Chargers fell to 0-2 after losing at home. Cousins' connection with White supplied the decisive production, and Las Vegas' defense held Los Angeles without a fourth-quarter touchdown. The result came from the Raiders' ability to answer the Chargers' one strong scoring run and then close the game with field position and pressure.

  • The Raiders' win also marked their first game with multiple touchdown receptions by White, according to ESPN's game report. Las Vegas entered the afternoon 1-0, and the victory moved the Raiders to 2-0. The Chargers entered 0-1 and fell to 0-2. That record context matters because the AFC West game was more than a one-game split: Las Vegas built an early cushion in the division while Los Angeles remained without a win. The scoring ledger also corrects the late margin. The Chargers scored two touchdowns, including Gadsden's reception, while the Raiders scored three passing touchdowns and a field goal before a safety completed the total. White's two catches supplied the most important change in field position, first putting Las Vegas ahead and then extending the lead when Los Angeles needed a stop.
