Washington reached the Giants' 24-yard line in the closing minute of overtime, then ran out of time without attempting a winning field goal. The Commanders and New York finished tied 27-27 on Sunday after Jameis Winston brought the Giants back from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit.
With Washington out of timeouts, Jayden Daniels took the final snap with 12 seconds remaining and was brought down for no gain. The Commanders tried to line up to spike the ball, but the clock expired. New York moved to 3-1-1, and Washington finished the afternoon 1-3-1.

The Commanders had gained that last opportunity by taking away one from New York. The Giants were at Washington's 24 with two minutes left in overtime when Daron Payne forced a Cam Skattebo fumble. Shy Tuttle recovered at the 23, and Daniels moved Washington into scoring range on the ensuing possession.
New York had already missed an overtime chance when Dominic Zvada's 46-yard field-goal attempt went wide left on the opening possession. Zvada made two of five field goals for the game, converting from 51 and 56 yards but also missing from 50 and 57 before halftime.
Winston's late rally was built around Isaiah Likely and Malik Nabers. Likely caught a three-yard touchdown pass near the end of the third quarter, then added a 17-yard score with 7:20 remaining in the fourth. Nabers caught another 17-yard touchdown with 1:43 left, and Zvada's extra point tied the score.
Winston completed 33 of 54 passes for 326 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Nabers and Likely each caught 11 passes. Nabers gained 121 yards, while Likely finished with 94 yards and two touchdowns. New York had trailed 12-3 at halftime before finding its passing offense after the break.
Daniels, returning after missing two games with an elbow injury, threw for 199 yards and rushed for 103 yards. His touchdown runs of 38 and 26 yards helped Washington build its lead. After the second run, his two-point pass to Terry McLaurin made it 27-13 with 11:05 remaining.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt opened the scoring with a 33-yard touchdown run and finished with 82 rushing yards. The Giants host New Orleans next Sunday.
