Cameran Brown threw six touchdown passes to five receivers as Georgia State beat Old Dominion 42-10 Saturday at Center Parc Stadium. The Panthers turned an early 3-0 deficit into a 42-3 lead before the third quarter was halfway over.
Brown completed 14 of 20 passes for 284 yards without an interception. The Associated Press reported that his six touchdown passes set a school record. Georgia State improved to 4-1 overall and won its Sun Belt opener; Old Dominion fell to 1-4 and 0-2 in conference play.
Five receivers finish Brown's throws
Dennis Murray Jr. caught a nine-yard touchdown pass to put Georgia State ahead in the first quarter. After Old Dominion punted, Brown needed only one play to extend the lead: Derrick Avery Jr. took his next pass 80 yards for a touchdown.

That sequence gave the Panthers a 14-3 advantage, and their next two scoring possessions made it 28-3 by halftime. Isaiah Stone caught a 29-yard touchdown pass, followed by Rodshaun Dorsey's 28-yard score. Old Dominion's official account of the game described the Stone touchdown coming during a rainy second quarter.
Brown continued spreading the ball after the break. Owen Dupree scored on a 35-yard reception, and Dorsey caught his second touchdown pass, this one from 14 yards. Dorsey finished with two catches for 42 yards, both touchdowns. Avery had two catches for 91 yards.
Georgia State gained 470 yards and converted seven of 14 third downs. Qwantavius Wiggins carried 15 times for 87 yards, helping the Panthers finish with 187 rushing yards alongside Brown's passing production. Their offense had 23 first downs and held the ball for 34:32.
Old Dominion's early chance yields three points
The Monarchs began with a useful short field. Koa Naotala forced a fumble on Georgia State's second offensive play, and Ja'Mez Drummer recovered it at the Panthers' 40. Old Dominion reached the three-yard line but settled for Nathanial Eichner's 21-yard field goal.
The Panthers then scored 42 consecutive points. Old Dominion used three quarterbacks, but Quinn Henicle, Ryan Huff and Jaxon Potter combined for 79 passing yards without a touchdown. Georgia State recorded seven sacks, including three by Xavier Esqillion. The Monarchs converted five of 17 third downs and never produced an offensive touchdown.
Their only touchdown came on special teams. Devin Roche returned a punt 78 yards in the third quarter, cutting the margin to 42-10. Old Dominion's report said it was the longest punt return in program history and its first punt-return touchdown since Isaiah Harper's score against VMI in 2018.
For the Monarchs, that return supplied a record on a day when their offense struggled to sustain possessions. They visit Appalachian State next Saturday. Georgia State's next game is at James Madison on October 17, with its conference schedule now underway after a decisive opening win.
