The Angels needed extra innings to finish Minnesota, beating the Twins 5-4 in the 10th on Thursday night. Wade Meckler's single scored the automatic runner after Los Angeles surrendered a late lead and Minnesota answered in the ninth.
Minnesota's Walker Jenkins went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, while Brooks Lee added two hits and two RBIs. The Twins finished with 10 hits but struck out 15 times.
Los Angeles got seven scoreless innings from Walbert Urena, who allowed four hits and struck out nine. The bullpen then turned the game into a test: Minnesota scored twice in the ninth to tie it, but the Angels recovered in the bottom of the 10th. Meckler finished 2-for-5 with the winning RBI.

The 5-4 final came after both clubs produced enough contact to make the ending messy. For Los Angeles, the useful piece is the rotation start from Urena and the ability to answer after losing the lead; for Minnesota, the missed chance was failing to cash in on a strong Jenkins night.
